Answers to Top Questions to Ask Your Potential Lawyer
How many years have your attorneys been practicing law?
The attorneys at Knowles Law Firm bring a wealth of experience to every case they handle, with a combined total of over 55 years in legal practice. This extensive experience allows us to provide knowledgeable and effective representation to our clients, ensuring that each case is handled with the expertise and dedication it deserves.
What unique strategies do your attorneys employ in personal injury cases to maximize client settlements?
First, we try cases. Why is this important? Because at the end of the day, if the insurance company is not willing to pay what is fair on a case, the only recourse is to file a lawsuit and go through the litigation process. Insurance companies know which law offices are willing to go to court and see a case through to a jury verdict. If the insurance company does not believe a law firm is willing to do that, they will make a low ball offer and know that their last and best offer will be accepted.
Second, we know the law and use it to your advantage. For example, Nebraska is a state that recognizes your damages as the gross value of your medical bills, not the discounted or reduced amount. When the insurance company tries to make an offer based on what you need to pay back to medical providers versus the uninsured rate, we can point them to the Nebraska law that requires them to value the case correctly.
Third, we know when health insurance companies and car insurance companies are required to provide a reduction on their bill and pass those savings on to you.
The above are just three examples of the many ways we can maximize your settlement.
How do your attorneys communicate with their clients during a case—do you prefer in-person, phone, or video calls?
All of the above. We will use the client’s preferred method of communication. All of our clients have access to our personal cell phones and emails, so they can call, text, or email our attorneys when they need us. At a minimum, we make contact with our clients every 2 to 3 weeks to touch bases and get an update on how they are doing. If a client would like to come in to see us in person or consult via video conference, we are able to do that as well.
What role do your attorneys play in the initial consultation and case evaluation process?
Our attorneys take a hands-on approach during the initial consultation. They will meet with you personally to discuss your case, explain the law, and outline how we can assist you.
Are your attorneys willing to travel to meet with clients?
Yes. Oftentimes after an accident our clients are without transportation due to the accident. We are happy to travel to their home to meet with them.
Do clients have direct access to your attorneys, or will most interactions be with your staff?
At Knowles Law Firm, clients have direct access to their attorneys. We believe in personal, one-on-one communication, and you will always speak directly with your lawyer, not a paralegal or assistant.
Do your attorneys handle out-of-state or long-distance cases?
Yes. Although we are only licensed to practice in Nebraska, we can consult with an attorney licensed in the state where the accident took place. That way, we can handle your case and make sure we know the laws of the state where the accident occurred.
